Fuel Surcharge
Fuel Surcharge
A fuel surcharge is an extra percentage charge added to the total cost of a trip or delivery due to the increased price of fuel. Because fuel prices fluctuate frequently, a surcharge is added to the price of a fare to cover the cost of fuel. A surcharge is usually based on the national average price of fuel at the time of the trip or when tickets are purchased, depending on the policy of the individual company. Many corporations run a standard monthly surcharge that is adjusted to the current price of fuel at the beginning of each month.
