The 328 also has a higher maximum altitude of 31,000 feet, which is significantly higher than most other 30 seat turboprop aircraft. Dornier intended for the 328 to be a competitor to the jet regional aircraft when it introduced the 328 to the market in 1991, as such the aircraft has an impressive range of 1000 miles which is approximately 300 miles further than most of the other turboprop aircraft of its class.
