Wikimedia Commons featured pictures of the day[edit]
Can anyone tell me why the picture of the day is so often from Central or eastern Europe? The images very frequently feature German, Ukrainian, or Russian subjects. And often some from bordering countries. Rashadtaylor109 (talk) 21:29, 13 April 2023 (UTC)
- Yes, there is a lot of photos from Central Europe usually. Most of them are from Germany, big country with 80+ mln. population. Other countries from Central Europe are German-language countries, like Austria, Switzerland...What about Ukraine and Russia. Ukraine is a big country too. As for Russia it's largest country in the world by area, 2-3 times more than all Europe, with 140+ mln population, 105-110 is in european part. In June, July and August there are 2 photos per month for such large country like Russia. And 0 in May and 1 for April and 0 for September 2023. It's not a lot, I think.
